When I first picked up a camera years ago, I never could have imagined the journey it would take me on. Looking back, I’m still amazed by the places I’ve been, the experiences I’ve had, and the people I’ve met, all because of a camera in my hands.
My name is Shane Anderson, and I’m a wildlife photographer and career firefighter based in Connecticut. What began as an interest in photography has grown into one of my greatest passions, opening doors and creating opportunities I never would have dreamed possible.
From the rugged wilderness of Alaska and Canada to the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife of Africa, photography has taken me to some remarkable places. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate enough to be invited on incredible adventures and to photograph alongside talented wildlife photographers whose work I greatly admire.
For me, wildlife photography is about the anticipation, the patience, and those unforgettable moments when nature reveals something extraordinary. I believe strongly in ethical wildlife photography, respecting animals and their habitats while allowing their natural behaviors to unfold without interference.
One of my personal goals is to photograph wildlife on every continent. So far, that journey has taken me across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, with South America next on the horizon.
Through Photos by SMA, I hope to share more than photographs. Each image represents an experience, a memory, and a story that extends beyond the frame.
Select photographs are available as fine art prints. Please contact me for print inquiries.
